28-12-2006

Dear all

CIR M09/12: HELP THE FLOOD VICTIMS – UPDATE 1 as at 27 Dec 06 (Wed), 6am

We refer to our call for assistance for Johor flood victims via our circular M08/12 dated Dec 24, 2006.

The flood situation had improved slightly yesterday morning.  However, the non-stop raining from last night until now has worsened the flood situation than anticipated at the affected areas.  According to the news report, the water level has rises to another risk level.  Further more, it is expected that the rain will continue until Friday.

Following the “help the flood victims” drive last week, a hand over session was held at the Nanyang Press (JB office) on Dec 26, 2006, witnesses by YB Tan Cher Puk, State Assembly for Pasir Gudang.  YB Tan is also the Head of Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) for Johor State.

In the recent on-going flood disaster in Johor, CRSM has played an important role in helping the flood victims such as distributing foods and drinks, ferrying the young and the olds, providing shelters, giving comforting words and other assistances needed by the flood victims.  Beside spending times and energy, they has also risk their life in the process of rescuing the victims in many parts of Johor.  Their spirits in providing this assistance is highly commendable.

We are also seeing many organization contributed foodstuffs and in kind such as:

1. Maslee - 100 cartons of noodles, 100 cartons of rice, 100 cartons of biscuits, and 100 crake of mineral water.
2. Matrix Valley - 500 cartons of mineral water.
3.  Chicago Bakery - 500 pcs of bread
4.  Kang Xi Fu – 30 carton of instant noodles
5.   Mr Goh Tian Chou – 30 cartons of candles
6.   Mr Yang (sensei) – 80 pax of herbs
7.   many more ..... (kindly refer web www.smijohorselatan.com)

At the same time, some trade association and NGOs has also show their concern and support by donating cash into the "Helping the Flood Victims" campaign, such as:

1.  Johor Interior Design Association donated RM 2,000
2.  Women SME Association (Johor Branch) donated RM 1,000
3.  Institute Kimia Malaysia (Southern Branch) donated RM 2,000
4.  Tey's Clan Association of Johor donated RM 5,000

We are seeing many people had come in to lend a helping hand following our call to help the victim.  However, based on the above cash and goods collected to-date, we are sad to note that we are still far behind from the require target.

WHAT ABOUT YOU? HAVE YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND? WE ARE WAITING FOR YOUR KIND
CONTRIBUTION, BE IT CASH OR IN KIND, WE NEED YOU.....PLEASE DONATE IT NOW...
