JOHOR BARU: One of Danga Bay's eight traditional Malay houses, built to represent all the districts in the state, would have a different feel to it beginning today.

The Rumah Limas would house a police station.

The new police station was unique with a homely atmosphere, complete with warm wooden floors and walls.

Located in Jalan Skudai, the Rumah Limas, or traditional Malay Johor houses, were built as tourist attractions.

A statement by Danga Bay Sdn Bhd (DBSB), which manages the place, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was expected to witness the official hand-over of the Danga Bay police station to Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Sharif at 2.30pm today.

Also expected to be present is Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.

The new Danga Bay police station will be handed over to the state police chief today witnessed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein

The police station will be manned by a sergeant and two support staff.

The station is complemented by three other police beat bases strategically located throughout Danga Bay.

In conjunction with the event, DBSB is also contributing six motorcycles and two golf buggies for use by policemen.

DBSB is also testing a comprehensive wireless closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera system to further boost security in the area.

Under the plan, 100 CCTV cameras would be installed at strategic spots.

In addition to the police presence, Danga Bay has its own security team of 100 ex-army and police personnel to conduct patrol on motorcycles round-the-clock.
