2014 Year Of Empowering SME Entrepreneurs - Mustapa
KOTA BAHARU, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- More than 600,000 small and medium enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs nationwide will be empowered further next year, said Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
He said this was importannt in order to take the SME entrepreneurs to a higher level in line with the country's modernisation so that they are not left behind, especially the Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
"2014 is the year to empower over 600,000 SME entrepreneurs so that they are not left behind and all programmes will be coordinated to achieve this purpose.
"The government through the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) also wants to see Bumiputera entrepreneurs become successful entrepreneurs," he told reporters after officiating the 2013 Kelantan MITI SME entrepreneurs excellence day here Saturday.
Meanwhile, he said the National Entrepreneurship Institute (Insken) will start making moves to attract the interest of the rakyat to become entrepreneurs beginning from the school level.
"The exposure must be given at the school and university levels so that they have the interest to venture into entrepreneurship sector, Insken together with and MITI will implement this important programme," he said.
Also present were Kelantan MITI director Azran Deraman, Kelantan Federal Development Department director Datuk Makhtar Mustapha and more than 600 SME entrepreneurs in Kelantan.
